Pakistan is hopeful of securing a $2 billion loan from (IMF)

Pakistan is hopeful of securing a $2 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which includes a $1 billion loan installment and $1 billion for climate financing.

Sources within the Ministry of Finance told ProPakistani that the request for the $1 billion climate financing in addition to the expected $1 billion loan tranche was made during recent talks.

It is possible for both the loan installment and climate financing to be approved in one go. However, the climate financing portion of the loan is anticipated to be released in multiple installments.

According to sources, the IMF delegation has confirmed that they will submit the request to the Executive Board for their approval. The approval for the loan from the Executive Board is expected to take place in April or May, after the economic review discussions are finalized.
