Govt Announces Bad News About Salaries and Pensions
Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, has conveyed discouraging news to government employees, revealing that there are currently no proposals being evaluated for salary or pension increases in the forthcoming fiscal year.
In a written statement presented to the National Assembly, the finance minister emphasized that the government does not intend to adjust pay scales or allowances for federal employees. Aurangzeb remarked, “There is no proposal under consideration to increase the salaries of government employees in the next fiscal year.”
He also stated that there are currently no plans to modify the pension framework for federal government employees. Nevertheless, the minister indicated that the government is assessing the hiring limits and ceiling allowances for staff. Conversely, the Finance Ministry responded that it is contemplating raising the limit on private housing allowances for government employees.
The Finance division further clarified that there are no intentions to increase the pensions of retired government employees for the upcoming fiscal year.
This announcement is disappointing for government employees who were hoping for some relief through salary or pension adjustments in light of escalating inflation and economic difficulties.
